In 2016 ICS was chosen as one of only 3 schools in the region to pilot an innovative new tool: Blended Learning! We have been delivering instruction via Blended Learning for five years now. Blended Learning combines online lessons with digital and person-to-person learning experiences coordinated by the teacher in a traditional classroom setting.
The equipment consists of Google Chrome books housed in a charging cart. Students and devices are 1:1. The children have the opportunity to combine the best of technology with individualized instruction.
Blended learning allows for small group instruction while also giving teachers the ability to customize individual student instruction to meet their needs to have an optimal learning experience.
In the classroom at ICS, blended learning is frequently implemented by using three instructional centers. Working in small groups, our students rotate through the stations:
Students also use the technology to target and differentiate instruction in all classes across all subjects.
The teachers are also able to assign lessons for the students to complete at home. Students can access this at home with their parents to ensure a complete, well-rounded experience. Google Classroom and a variety of interactive websites in all subjects enrich and engage our students.
