security cameras

We are entering phase 3 of our security upgrades. ICS was awarded a grant for $9,700 to add to our already existing security system. The NYS Safety and Security Program will also contribute several thousand dollars for the completion of this initiative. Presently outside cameras focus on our main entrance, the courtyard between the gym and school, the parking lots, and main cafeteria doors. We will be adding interior cameras on each floor in the school building, inside the cafeteria and gym. Outside cameras will also be installed in the Little House. As they say, "You're in good hands with ICS!"

Pre-K at ICS

Starting in September we will have 4 sections of PreK - 2 full time PreK 4 classes, 1 full time PreK 3 class and 1 part time PreK 3 class!

Mrs. Kathy Piraino, our director of Early Childhood, will teach full time 3's in the Little House. The newest member of our staff, Mrs. Meg King, will teach part time 3's in Room 106. Mrs. King is a certified teacher who also holds a BA in Social Work, MA in Education, Supervision and Administration, and is a NYS Registered Nurse. We could not have asked for a more qualified and suitable candidate to join our excellent faculty.

Mrs. Elizabeth Walsh will continue in PreK 4. She will be joined by our own Ms. Christina Fink who previously taught both PreK 3 and PreK 4 at ICS. What a team!

We do have a few choice seats left in all 4 classes. Please spread the word to friends and family.

School Rocks

Remember our theme from a few years ago, “Around here we don’t look backwards for very long… We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Walt Disney

Well, we are traveling down many new paths in 2017- 2018! Ms. Pettinella was just married this weekend! She and her husband will be relocating so she will not return to ICS in September. Ms. Serratore has also opted to move on to new adventures. We bid them both fond farewell and God Bless as they travel new paths.

So...

Mrs. Cartolano continues as our Master Kindergarten Teacher! Mrs. Watson will teach 1st grade, Mrs. Maher will teach 2nd grade, Mrs. Schmid will teach 4th grade, 5th grade is moving into our departmental structure with 6th, 7th & 8th grades, Mr. Bishop will be the 5th grade homeroom and 5th Math teacher and I am finalizing a contract for a wonderful 3rd grade teacher. I'll keep you posted. Mrs. Basile, Mrs. Reisman, Mrs. LaMassa, Mrs. D'Angelo and Mrs. Reda will all remain in their present positions and assume teaching their subject area to 5th grade except for Mrs. LaMassa who will add an Algebra course for some 8th grade students. Ms. Stoutenburg and her husband welcomed their new son Griffin this summer. She will continue as our Music teacher, Mrs. Persampieri continues as our Italian teacher, Mrs. Hill as our Art teacher, Mr. Cozza as our PE and 6th Grade Math teacher and Mr. Lewis as our Technology teacher.

Look for new additions such as: a second tech lab, stem projects, drones, iPads, robotics, 75 inch inter-active TV - aka 21st century Smart Board, redesign in our Early Childhood classrooms and a few other tricks up our sleeves.

Are you out of breath yet? We've had a very busy summer!

Think

Theme for 2017-2018

Each classroom will be outfitted with a poster with our theme for the year. Yes, it's the 21st century version of what our Mothers used to tell us, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!"
